The WPBA San Diego Classic is now down to just four players who will fight it out under the ESPN lights on Sunday.
In an all-american matchup, Jeanette Lee will face Monica Webb and Ga Young Kim will take on Gerda Hofstatter in the other semi-final match.
Lee had been playing some great pool all week, but she really hit her stride on Saturday night with a lopsided 9-2 win over red-hot Sarah Rousey. Lee just seemed to make every ball she could see and Rousey had no answer for her on this night.
Lee's opponent on Sunday, Monica Webb, is still riding the high from her first WPBA Classic Tour victory last November and is hungry to add another trophy to her trophy case. Webb eliminated Tiffany Nelson-Crain and rising Korean star Yu Ram Cha on Saturday evening.
Gerda Hofstatter finished in second place at this event last year, but she already knows that she will not have to face last year's winner, Allison Fisher, again in this event. Hofstatter assured that when she made an amazing comeback from 6-2 down to defeat Fisher 9-8 on Saturday night. Hofstatter then went on to defeat Xiao-Ting Pan 9-5 and looks ready to add the San Diego title to her resume.
Standing in Gerda's way will be Ga Young Kim, who bounced back from an early loss to Holly Sholes and eliminated Iris Ranola and Kelly Fisher on Saturday night. Kim is playing her usual high-octane game and will be a tough match for anyone on Sunday.
