The top players of the Women’s Professional Billiard Association are returning to Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City, OR. The 64 player field will be made up of WPBA Exempt Professionals for 2009 with the remaining spots going to qualifiers and invitees.
The event will kick off with a Charity Pro-Am benefiting My Sister’s Place. Members of the public can sign up to play a pro in a team format. Last year’s Pro Am raised over $5,000 for this charity. The preliminary rounds of tournament play begin Thursday, October 14th, 2009 at 11:00 am and run through Saturday night, when the field will be narrowed down to four players for the taping of the two semi-finals and final match on Sunday. Kelly Fisher is The Pacific Coast Classic defending Champion and says this about returning, “I am excited to be returning the fantastic arena at the Chinook Winds Casino. It was the site of my second WPBA title last year and holds great memories for me. Chinook Winds host’s a first class event and I am looking forward to coming back to the great atmosphere and thrill of Oregon.” But Top Ranked players such as Monica Webb, winner of the 2009 San Diego Classic; Jasmin Ouschan, winner of the WPBA 2009 Great Lakes Classic and Ga Young Kim, winner of the WPBA 2009 US Open 9 Ball Championships, will all be gunning to win a second event this season.
The WPBA is continuing with its scorekeeping system in order to keep statistics on all our players. In addition, thanks to the Presenting Sponsor for Web Streaming 2009, Pooldawg.com, the WPBA will offer live, free web streaming of one match per round during the non-televised portion of during the Pacific Coast Classic. It’s been a huge success this season, where featured players have included Allison Fisher, Ga Young Kim, Jasmin Ouschan, Monica Webb and Kelly Fisher.
The WPBA Merchandise Booth will have signed photos and tour posters available, there will be Cuetec Cues for raffle, a premium one of a kind set of Aramith Pro-Cup TV Billiard Balls, signed by the top 16 will be auctioned off prior to the finals and finally, the set of Billiard Balls used for the finals will be signed by the two Finalists and also auctioned off.
