Tunica, MS - Day One of the WPBA 2004 Delta Classic has come and gone with few surprises as the majority of the "Top 16" ranked players advanced to the winners bracket. In one of the final matches of the evening, youngster Sarah Rousey, WPBA's 2003 "Rookie of the Year" and the youngest professional on the tour, outlasted a determined and #9 ranked Julie Kelly, to advance in the winners side of the 64-player bracket. Advancing in the winners bracket in order of current rankings are: Allison Fisher (#1), Karen Corr (#2), Helena Thornfeldt (#3), Jeanette Lee (#4), Vivian Villarreal (#6), Gerda Hofstatter (#10), Ewa Laurance (#11), Laura Smith (#13), Sarah Ellerby (#14), Melissa Herndon (#16), Melissa Little (#17), Sarah Rousey (#21), Tiffany Nelson (#22), Dawn Hopkins (#25), Ga Young Kim (#27), and Jennifer Barretta (#29). No players are eliminated in the first day of the "double-elimination" tournament.
Tournament play will resume Friday, February 27, 2004 at 11:00 am. Remaining session times for the tournament are: Friday and Saturday (February 27 - 28, 2004): Day -11am to 4:30 pm; Evening - 5:30 pm to 11:30 pm; Sunday, February 29th: Semi-final #1: 1:00pm; Semi-final #2: 3:00pm; Championship: 5:00pm. Ticket prices are $10 General Admission and $30 VIP for each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday "all-day" sessions and $25 General Admission and $40 VIP for the semi-finals and championship rounds. "All-Event" passes are available for $45 General Admission and $100 VIP.
