Fujairah, UAE - The WPA World 8-Ball Championships, sponsored by Knight Shot Billiards, ADNOC Oil and Gas, Damas Fine Jewelry, FBI Property and Development Company, ALRAWABI Milk and Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort has begun in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
Sixty-four players from around the world have gathered here to determine the first WPA World 8-Ball Champion. The only major country not represented is the USA due to a scheduling conflict with the UPA's World Summit of Pool in New York.
Round -robin play begins today. The players are grouped in sixteen groups of four players each. After the round-robin series the best 32 players will then be seeded into a standard ladder format to play down to our winner.
