WPA Releases 2021 Calendar

As was clearly evident, Covid-19 certainly had a detrimental effect on our pool events throughout 2020 with just the one event being staged, the Mosconi Cup.

This year looks quite a bit more optimistic with Matchroom and Predator both confirming a number of events for 2021. Matchroom gets underway in March with a brand new event, the Championship League, followed the next month by a most anticipated and our longest running event, the World Pool Championship (World 9-Ball Championship). They will also conduct the World Pool Masters, the World Cup of Pool and Mosconi Cup. We are awaiting confirmed dates from Matchroom for the US Open, and of course as soon a these are available they will be announced.

Predator have certainly stepped up to the plate with the announcement of a series of events which makes the calendar look very healthy, especially when compared to 2020. Their first event will kick off in July, a Predator US Pro Tour event in Arizona, followed by the Las Vegas 10-Ball Open, 1-4 September, the men’s Predator World 10-Ball Championship 6-10 September, also included in this period is the Predator Juniors World 9-Ball Championships 9-11 September. All these events will be played in the Rio Hotel, Las Vegas. From the 30th September to 10th October, Predator will host the Predator women’s World 10-Ball Championship and World Team Event in Austria. Then from 15-20 November, Predator will produce another US Pro Tour event in Puerto Rico.

There will also be the Kremlin Cup, 14-18 September, Pat Fleming’s International 9-Ball Championship 22-30 October and the US 14.1 Championship immediately following 31 October – 4 November.

There are some other events in the pipeline, but still awaiting confirmation, and of course as we all know only too well, everything is subject to this terrible Corona virus pandemic. However with a vaccine now available, we are hopeful things will continue to improve and we will get through the year without too much further distraction.
