Day Four was the day of favorites at the ongoing World Team Championships. Germany as well as the USA, the Philippines and China had no problems advancing into the next stage which is now single elimination (last 16).
Germany is still the only team that had not lost a single match. The Greece team with Evangelos Vettas was chanceless and lost the match 0:4. The United States scored the same result by beating the guys from Morocco. The Philippines lost their first point against the Czech Republic but the victory was never at risk.
Sweden and Kuwait were the first surprises of the tournament. The “Tre Kronors” from Northern Europe including Marcus Chamat came out with a 4:2 win against the “heavy weights” of Great Britain. On the one loss side Kuwait kicked out France.
The match between the Netherlands and the young-guns from Russia was a thriller for the fans. After 6 games, the match was tied and the Shoot-Out was used to decide a winner. Both teams scored very fast until it was 7:7. At the end it was Russia who kept their nerve and won 9:7.
Denmark and Switzerland needed the Shoot-Out to decide a winner in their matche. At the end, both teams received standing ovations as Denmark came back four times with Switzerland on the hill. Finally Dernmark's Bahram Lotfy missed and Switzerland went through to the single elimination stage.
