Team Captains and Friday lineups have been announced for the 2003 World Stars Invitational Team Cup.
The captains for this unique event will be Fong-pang Chao for the team from Chinese Taipei and Ralf Souquet for the team representing the rest of the world. Souquet expressed his confidence in his teammates and noted the three world champions (Souquet, Thorsten Hohmann and Mika Immonen) on his team. Chao responded that he was also very proud of his teammates and that the World team would not have it easy.
The first day matchups will be:
1. Ralf Souquet & Thorsten Hohmann VS. Fong-Pong Chao & Pei-Wei Chang
2. Shin-Young Park & Young-Hwa Jeong VS. Kun-Fang Lee & Che-Wei Fu.
3. Charlie Williams & Rodney Morris VS. Ching-Shun Yang & Hui-Chan Lu.
4. Haruyoshi Hinokiyama & Hisashi Yamamoto VS. Hui-Kai Hsia & Chin-Ching Kang
5. Alex Pagulayan & Mika Immonen VS. Tung-Yu Yang & Po-Cheng Kuo.
Lineups for day two will be announced Friday evening.
The format for this ten man team event is five double matches (Race to 9) worth one point each on day one and ten singles matches (Race to 7) worth one point each on days two and three. All matches must be played, and the team with the larger total from the 25 available points at the end of play on the third day will be the winner.
The winning team will split $16,000 while the losing team splits $8,000. In addition, each pairing that wins a double match will split $3,000 compared to $1,000 for the losing pair. Each singles match winner will pocket $1,000 while each singles match loser will win $500.
The event will be broadcast live on Videoland Sports in Chinese Taipei.
