Matchroom Sport is delighted to announce that the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship breaks off on Saturday 4th November at the Philippines International Convention Center in the heart of Manila.
With 128 players from 42 countries scheduled to take part, the event boasts a record US$400,000 prize-fund including $100,000 to whoever is crowned champion on Sunday 12 November.
In what is one of the strongest fields ever assembled, players from countries as diverse as Chile, India, and the Czech Republic will all be competing as well as the stars from pool's major league nations such as the Philippines, Taiwan, USA and Germany.
The Championship runs from 4th - 12th November and all the game's biggest names will be taking part including defending champion Wu Chia-ching, 2001 winner Mika ‘Iceman' Immonen of Finland, 2002 champion Earl Strickland and 1999 champ Efren Reyes of the Philippines,.
A strong local contingent of 21 players, including Francisco Bustamante, Marlon Manalo and Dennis Orcollo, as well as a host of dangerous ‘unknowns', will be looking to carry the Filipino flag into the final stages.
The Philippines World Pool Championship is live on ESPN Star Sports throughout Asia as well as Sky Sports in the UK and DSF in Germany and that adds up to over 60 hours of coverage over the nine days.
The event's official website – www.worldpoolchampionship.com – will carry live scoring throughout as well as reports results and up-dates.

The opening four days sees 32 groups of 4 players in race-to-eight round robin action before the last 64 do-or-die single elimination knock-out rounds commence on Wednesday 8 November.
Play culminates on the evening of Sunday 12th, as the two finalists contest the race-to-17 final for the games ultimate accolade.
