As day one winds down at the Predator World 10-Ball Championships being held at Bankshot Billiards in Jacksonville, Florida, the fans in attendance have witnessed an early round forfeit and a day full of great 10-ball.
Early bracket watchers were intrigued by the matchup between recently struggling Earl Strickland and #19 ranked WPBA player Anna Kostanian. That matchup failed to materialize though, as Strickland midread the tournament board and missed his match. Kostanian moved on with the forfeit and fell to Japan's Hiroshi Takenaka in round two.
Another WPBA star, #7 ranked Gerda Hofstatter came out on the wrong end of a hill-hill match with Sparky Ferrell, but #13 ranked Kim Shaw scored a first round 10-4 win over Hayato Hijikato to remain undefeated.
Top seeds finding their way to the left side of the brackets early included Santos Sambajon, Warren Kiamco, John Morra, Richard Broumpton and Shaun Wilkie. Sambajon lost a 10-5 decision to Steve Moore. Moore then lost a hill-hill match to Raj Hundal.
