When the Ladies Spirit Tour stop started this weekend at Cunningham's Pool & Darts in Vero Beach Florida, Vivian Villarreal was the favorite. Vivian lived up to that status and won the event, but it wasn't easy.
Villarreal started Sunday play undefeated and began the day with a dominating 7-0 win over Arizona's Angel Paglia. Villarreal didn't stop there, as she went on to take the hot-seat with a 7-3 win over Wendy Jans.
On the one-loss side, Jans faced off against reigning Florida State Champion Tracie Hines who had just eliminated Paglia. This match belonged to Jans 7-4 and earned her another shot at Villarreal in the finals.
The rematch between Villarreal and Jans started off much different with Jans leading 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 before climbing to what looked to be an insurmountable 6-3 lead. Jans was unable to get over the hill though as a combination of stifling play from Villarreal and a couple nervous mistakes by Jans allowed Villarreal back into the match. Villarreal won four straight games and took the match 7-6 for the tournament win.
Villarreal earned $700 for the win, while Jans settled for $525 in prize money. Hines and Paglia filled out the top four spots. Due to Villarreal's touring pro status, Jans won the qualifier for the WPBA event in Indiana.
The Ladies Spirit Tour will be at Capone's Billiard Lounge in Spring Hill, FL on February 26th-27th for their next event.
