The 2012-2013 Pure X Cues All American Tour – presented by the American CueSports Alliance (ACS) – produced its twenty-third stop of the Tour year at Sharky’s Billiards in Davenport, IA, Saturday, March 23. The $500-added 8-ball handicapped tourney on 7-foot Valley bar boxes drew 36 players.
Jesse Bowman (E. Moline, IL) [rated a “7” on a regional handicapping system used} was on his usual fine form on this day, as he marched undefeated to the hot seat, topped off with a semifinals win over Colin Brandt [4] (Rock Island, IL) 7-2 and a finals victory over Chad Vilmont [7] (Clinton, IA) 7-4. Also in the semis, Vilmont had clipped Ronnie Martin [6] (E. Moline, IL) 7-5.
On the B-side, Larry Newell [5] (Clinton, IA) and Anthony Garcia [6] (Cedar Rapids, IA) eliminated Justin Moris [5] (Dubuque, IA) 5-3 and Scott Hargens [6] (Cedar Rapids, IA) 6-5 respectively at 7th place. In the next round, both Newell and Garcia placed 5th by being on the wrong side of scores with Colin Brandt [4] 1-4 and Ronnie Martin [6] 4-6 respectively. Ronnie Martin then relegated Colin Brandt to 4th place by a 6-3 margin. In the B-side finals, Martin fell short on the hill to Chad Vilmont 5-7. Vilmont then succeeded in double-dipping Jesse Bowman in the tourney finals to claim the title!
By virtue of Ronnie Martin being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 8-Ball singles entry into the 2013 Pure X ACS Nationals at the Tropicana Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.
