The Pechauer West Coast Tour invaded San Diego for the first time this weekend with a $4000 added pokertropolis.com event at Gaslamp Billiards.
Tour points leader Stan Tourangeau and runner up Paul Potier were both in attendance, but both lost matches early on Saturday and failed to cash. The match for the hot-seat came down to Victor Ignacio and Ismael Paez. Paez took an early lead, but lost momentum and ended up losing the match 9-7.
Paez then scored a close 9-8 decison over Bernardo 'King Kong' Chavez sending Chavez to the sidelines with a 3rd place finish.
The extended final match between Ignacio and 'Morro' Paez turned out to be identical to their first meeting. Morro started out of the game with an early lead, but lost momentum and was forced to watch Ignacio score a 13-9 win.
Ignacio earned $1900 for first place, while Paez settled for $1320 in runner-up prize money. Chavez and Arturo Rivera filled out the top four spots. Stan Tourangeau ended the event with an 85 point lead over Potier on the points list. A 4th place finish by Tourangeau next weekend will guarantee the #1 spot on the season points list.
The Pechauer West Coast Tour will end their season next weekend at Hollywood Billiards in Los Angeles, CA with a $7500 added event sponsored by Pokertropolis.com
