HOLLAND'S NICK VAN DEN BERG, a member of the victorious European side last December in London, kept the No.1 spot in the European Mosconi Cup rankings following a last eight finish at the recent WPA World 8 Ball Championship in the Fujairah, UAE.
The 30 year-old Dutchman will be looking to make his fourth Mosconi Cup appearance on the 8th to 11th December when the event takes place at a yet to be announced Las Vegas venue.
The big climber is fellow Dutchman Niels Feijen who moves from 16th place up to second after making his second consecutive World 8 Ball final appearance. Feijen is a veteran of six Mosconi Cups and was on the winning side in 2007 and '08.
2010 Mosconi Cup MVP, Darren Appleton, maintains his position in the top three following a semi-final appearance in the Middle East.
The European Mosconi Cup Ranking consists of 12 events – six Euro Tour events and six ‘World' events. The ‘World' events will carry approximately 50% more points due to the international strength of the field.
Only players finishing in the last 32 of each event will be allocated points and at the conclusion, after the 2011 US Open, the top three players will automatically gain entry to the Mosconi Cup side.
The remaining two players will be Matchroom Sport wildcard picks although the ranking will play a part in this.
The next qualifying event is the Italian Open which takes place in 14-16 April
