Shane Van Boening is the new United States Bar Table 10-Ball Champion, beating Jose Parica in the finals. The day began with Glenn Atwell defeating Sal Butera by a narrow margin of 7-5 and then getting defeated by Jose Parica by the same margin to finish in 3rd place. Shane Van Boening went through the tournament undefeated, and ended up only giving up one game in the finals against Parica, beating him in about 20 minutes.
The 9 ball division has also begun for both the men and women. The men's division garnered 139 entrants and had 6,000 added to its prize fund. The biggest upset of the day was delivered by the hand of Jeff Heath from Reno, Nevada, who defeated Earl Strickland on the hill in the first round. Jeff is undefeated still at the close of today's action along with such talent as Stevie Moore, Oscar Dominguez, Glenn Atwell, Thorston Hohmann. Darren “Dynamite” Appleton was on his way to being in the same company as those mentioned above, but fell ill and forfeited his third round match to Justin Whitehead. He was able to somewhat recover to make his loser's side match against player Trick Sixty where he ensured himself a return to tomorrow's action by winning 9-3.
The ladies division is a new addition to the US Bar Table Championships. At 24 entrants, the field was large enough for CueSports International to add the promised 1,000 dollars to the prize fund. After the first day of play, Amanda Lampert, Melissa Little, Andrea Wilson and Bonnie Plowman remain undefeated.
