Fast Eddies on Embassy Oaks in San Antonio TX played host to Fast Eddies Olhausen 9 Ball Tour's second stop of the year on February 14-15. A total of 85 players gathered to compete in the Open division with $1750 added to the pot.
The event showcased some fine talent including the hottest player in the world: Shane Van Boening, Jason Klatt, James Davis Sr., Sarah Rousey and a host of others.
Finishing in the 13-16 spots and gathering $145.00 were, Bill Fuller, Tom Mooney, Bill Regalis, and Ali Affas. Each fought hard for his money.
Ending the weekend in the 9-12 spots and collecting $190.00 were Sylver Ochoa, Scott Kephart, Ric Stanley, and Destry Ensley. Each turned in a fine performance.
The 7-8th positions paid $230.00 and claimed by, Martin Salinas and Corey Dordek. Both these men played very well and deserved every dime of the money.
The ever elusive 5-6th positions were captured By Bill Kester and young Sarah Rousey. Each entertained us very well and took home $290.00 and earned every cent of it.
David Gutierrez is the only player in the tours 7 year history to win 3 consecutive events and it is nice to see him again. David put up a mighty fight, finishing 4th place and pocketing $470 to make for a nice weekends work.
Jason Klatt impressed and entertained many with some very fine sharp shooting himself to earn him a nice 3rd place finish and an extra $650.00 this weekend. Jason Plays very well.
James Davis Sr. is one of the most consistent players in Texas history and this weekend proved no different as he battled Jason to win the hot seat and await the outcome in the rematch with Shane Van Boening who was really starting to heat up on the one loss side.
Shane avenged his earlier loss to Jason and earned his right to battle with James Davis Sr. in the finals.
It was late Sunday night and everyone was getting tired as James and Shane agree to play 2 races to 7 in the finals. James is a great and steady player, but, Shane was on fire and took down the cash in consecutive sets by scores of 7-1, and 7-2. Shane never missed a ball or an out. It was impressive.
For a fine 2nd place finish, James took home $950.00 and was happy to get it.
For yet another win and starting 09 with a bang, Shane took home another $1400.00 and stole the hearts of many with his impressive play and great attitude and manner. Shane is just a great young man and represents the game very well. Again and as always, thanks to Olhausen Billiards for their great support. They make things happen.
Thanks also to Paul Sumrall of S&S Cues from Lubbock Texas. He donates a cue each month to be raffled to help with the added money. The cue this month was a beauty, as always, and won by the very fortunate, Sang Lee. Also in attendance were Ron Geyer of the Custom Cue Connection, Jack Kompan of Mystick Cues, and Robbie Timms of behind the 8 Ball Cues. We appreciate your support and fine services.
We also thank Ali Affas, King Drake, JP Rodriguez, and Josh Johnson for their fine contribution and hard work.
Summer Bowen is one of the hardest working women I have ever met and this weekend was no different. Summer played manager at Fast Eddies this weekend and as always things went smoothly and without a hitch. Summer and her staff are just great.
Finally, thanks to Fast Eddies ownership for allowing the tour yet it's 7th season. You guys are just great.
The Tour resumes March 7-8th in San Angelo Texas and returns to San Antonio March 21-22. We look forward to seeing you all.
To all the Tours players, this is your Tour, enjoy it.
