Val Finnie won her first WPBA Qualifier at JPNEWT's second stop at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ. Finnie, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, went undefeated in the field of 22 players and bested 6-time World Snooker champion Kelly Fisher in a hill-hill final. Finnie posted wins over Melissa Jenkins, Diana Sorrentino, and Helen Koh. She then defeated Kelly Fisher for the hot seat, 7-5.
Fisher posted wins over Joanne Corbett, Morgan Steinman, and JPNEWT'S 2003 POY Liz Schwartzreich before being sent to the left side of the chart to again play Liz for the chance to meet up with Finnie in the finals. Liz finished in third place.
