David Uwate went undefeated through a very strong field of 73 players to claim another big Amateur title. The KF cue Tour joined forces with the UPL Pro 10 ball Invitational to put on a $4000 added amateur 9-ball event.
This event drew players from all over the U.S but it was David Uwate the Fl State Amateur champion who prevailed. Uwate made his way to the final with wins over Chip Dickerson, Louie Smith, Julio Del Pozo, Jim Sandaler to put himself in the winner's side final where he would meet George Saunders. Saunders route to the finals was a little tougher with wins John Donnely, Jessie Langston, Jeff Blomquist and then two strong wins over Louis Altes 7-6 and Mike Delawder 7-3 to match himself up against Uwate in the Hotseat match. This match was a very close affair with both players fighting hard but Uwate would come out on top with a close 7-5 win.
While all this was going on Louis Altes was clawing his way back through the field with some very hard fought wins over Daniel Plumber 7-5, Jason Richko 7-5, Jim Sandaler 7-6, Tom Decker 7-5 before a revenge match with George Saunders. This match was one way traffic with Saunders making too many unforced errors and Altes taking advantage to roll out a 7-1 winner and a shot at David Uwate in the Final
The final would be a single race to 9 with Altes coming out of the gates fast to take a 3-1 lead, Uwate now picked up a gear and would string 7 of the next 9 racks to take a commanding 8-5 lead, Altes would pull one more back to 8-6 but the wait was over for Uwate as he would take the last Rack and be crowned the champion with a 9-6 win.
This event was a huge success and would not have taken place if it wasn't for the extra sponsorship from Universal Pool League, Strokers, Hammer Heads and Capone's pool rooms also Delta 13 racks and KF Cues and www.billiardscoop.com and Javier Chirino for Supplying 2 beautiful trophies.
Our next event will be at Ultimate Billiards in Ft Pierce, Fl on December 5-6th. Check out www.kfcuetour.com for any further info.
