The 15th and final stop on the 2006-2007 Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour was held at New York Billiards in Raleigh, NC. Top players participating included B. J. Ussery, Wade Crane, Michael Fuller, Eddie Little and Phillip Richardson.
Crane took the hotseat, undefeated, with victories over Larry Faulk (7-3), Richardson (7-4), Younger Chapman (7-3), Randy Wilson (7-3) and Ussery (7-5).
Before his loss to Crane, Ussery defeated Cary Dunn (7-3), Scott Crandall (7-0), Fuller (7-3) and Little (7-6). On the one-loss side, Ussery's rematch with Fuller produced the same results as their first match, a 7-3 win, and set up a rematch in the final with Crane.
Crane and Ussery agreed to rack-your-own in the single race to nine. Winning the lag, Crane broke first and made two balls plus another before missing the 4. Ussery ran the last six to take the first game. Mistakes by both players in the second game left Ussery with another six ball runout and a 2-0 lead.
In the third rack, Crane made a sharp cut on the 2-ball and was snookered. Missing the 3, Crane conceded and was down 3-0. Ussery broke and ran to the 8 before missing, giving Crane his first game. Capitalizing on mistakes by Crane, Ussery won the next two games and then broke and ran in the seventh rack to lead 6-1.
Crane managed to win the next two games but Ussery took the last three, including a break-and-run in the eleventh rack, to seal the victory (9-3).
In addition to the cash prize, Ussery earned free entry (a $100 value) into the Carolina Open which will be held October 2-7, 2007 at Fast Eddie's Sports Bar and Grill in Goldsboro, NC.
Also, Ussery finished the tour as Player of the Year, earning free entry (a $500 value) into the 2007 U. S. Open 9-Ball Championships in Chesapeake, VA.
The 2007-2008 Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour will begin with a $3000 Added - GUARANTEED tournament on October 27-28, 2007 at Shooters in Greensboro, NC. The tour will consist of a total of 15 tournaments in the finest pool rooms from Charlotte to Wilmington, NC. The complete schedule, as well as exciting improvements to the tour, will be announced very soon.
