The Rack Billiard Club in Clive, IA – a suburb of Des Moines – was exploding with excitement as players from all over came to compete in Ultimate Pool USA’s latest event.
They had four divisions – the Open, the Women’s Open, Mixed Pairs & the Junior Open plus the Iowa Shootout Championship. All events were eight ball using International 8 Ball rules and played on seven foot tables.
It was the old guard versus the new in the Iowa Shootout. Shane Van Boening defeated fellow BCA Hall of Famer Johnny Archer 6-3 to become the Shootout King.
The Iowa Open Mixed Pairs Championship concluded on Saturday night with Savannah Easton & Shane Van Boening capturing the title after defeating Tarah Connor and Tom Cousins in a dramatic final 6-2.
Sunday was chock full of action as the other events concluded.
Savannah Easton keeps racking up the titles as she added the Iowa Junior Open Championship to her resume. She defeated Harrison Leinen 6-3 to win the tournament.
Leigha Belieu won the Iowa Open Junior Second Chance title.
Eylul Kibaroglu took the Iowa Open Women’s Championship after going to the wire against Savannah Easton – final score – 5-4.
Belinda Tipps won the Iowa Women’s Open Second Chance title.
Tom Cousins closed out the evening as he took the Iowa Open title by defeating Joven Bustamante in a 7-6 nailbiter.
Danny Roach won the Iowa Open Second Chance title.
Ultimate Pool USA announced that their next event will be the Boston Open at the Courtside Bar & Grill in Pembroke, MA. Dates are June 20th-22nd – hope to see you there!
