The first players to have earned their places in the final sixty four of the 2007 World Pool Championship are now known.
Kenichi Uchigaki proved that his win over Efren Reyes was no fluke as he went on to defeat Canadian Alain Martel 9-3 and qualify for the final sixty four. Martel fell to the one loss side and will face either Ceri Worts or Tony Robles from America. Robles fell to Thomasz Kaplan 9-0 in his first match of the day.
Other players to advance into the final sixty four were Hui-chan Lu from Taipei, Vilmos Foldes from Hungary and defending champion Ronnie Alcano. Alcano scored a lopsided 9-1 win over Harald Stolka. Stolka will wait on the winner between Xu Meng from China and Canadian Brady Gollan.
Four more players will earn their place in the final sixty four before the day is done.
