Turning Stone Day Two
Day one is complete at the Turning Stone Classic XVI and all of the players in attendance now have one match under their belt.
The 4pm round held an interesting match as Dennis Hatch faced off against Mannu Chau. The match was a close one early, with both players tied at 2, but that was the end of any suspense as the Hatchetman took complete control and cruised to a 9-2 win.
On the streaming table, Angelo Inness drew Earl Strickland and had to be pleased as he held an early 3-2 lead over the Pearl. Inness quickly found out what happens when you have Earl's undivided attention as Strickland won seven of the next eight games for the 9-3 win.
The 6pm round saw most of the big guns in action and almost all of them scored lopsided wins. Rodney Morris, Raj Hundal, Thorsten Hohmann, Corey Deuel, Johnny Archer and Al Lapena all scored wins, allowing their opponents three games or less. Max Eberle did not fare as well, as he lost to Redgie Cutler 9-1.
The 8pm round saw more of the top players in action as Shane Van Boening, Shawn Putnam, Shaun Wilkie and Mike Dechaine all moved along in the brackets with lopsided wins.
The comeback of the day belonged to Kevin Bauccio from Grotan, Ct who trailed reigning ladies Junior Champion Brittany Bryant 7-2. Gauccio came back to score a hill-hill win over Bryant. Bryant's fellow female players did not fare any better as Erin McManus dropped a hil-hill decision to Jerome Rockwell and Karen Corr lost to Dave Grau 9-4.
Friday play holds some intriguing matches as Johnny Archer faces Thorsten Hohmann, Al Lapena takes on Raj Hundal, Tom D'Alfonso plays Charlie Williams and Shaun Wilkie plays Danny Basavich.
