Day one at the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour Turning Stone Classic VII is complete with one full round of play finished.
Most of the usual suspects advanced; many of them by very lopsided scores. Marlon Manalo, Johnny Archer, Ralf Souquet and Keith McCready all advanced with 9-0 victories on Thursday. Other top players advancing included Shawn Putnam, Karen Corr, Mike Zuglan, Jeanette Lee, George Breedlove, Dennis Hatch and Santos Sambajon.
The first round was not kind to all of the top seeds though, as Allen Hopkins, Howard Vickery, Dee Adkins and Mike Davis all took very early trips to the one loss side on Thursday.
Marquee matches on Friday will include WPBA star Jeanette Lee taking on Shaun Wilkie, George Breedlove vs Tony Crosby and Keith McCready vs Dave Fernandez.
Early on Thursday, Joss Tour director Mike Zuglan announced awards for the 05/06 season with Zuglan earning player of the year and Evan Broxmeyer taking home 'Most Improved Player' honors.
Online brackets are updated and will continue being updated all weekend long.
