The SE Open 9-Ball Tour was in action this weekend at Jo-Jo's Place in Davie Florida for the Jo-Jo's Place 9-Ball Shoot Out. In addition to the usual contingent of strong SE Open Tour players, some of the stars of the south made their way to Davie to compete in this one.
At the end of play on Saturday, the winners side was down to Troy Frank vs Scott Nodell and Shannon Daulton vs Scott Gregory. The one loss side is down to tour director Tommy Kennedy vs Mario Cruz. Kennedy lost to Troy Frank on Saturday, while Cruz lost to Ben Collins.
On Sunday, Frank went on to defeat Daulton for the hot-seat 9-6 while Kennedy was making his way through the one-loss side looking for a rematch with Frank. Daulton however, had other ideas as to who would be getting a rematch with Frank in the finals. Daulton took an early 5-2 lead in the race to seven match with Kennedy but would not win another game as Kennedy won five straight games for the 7-5 win.
Any roll Kennedy might have been on leading into the finals was quickly halted as Frank cruised to a 7-1 victory in the finals.
Frank earned $650 for first, while Kennedy settled for $450. Angela Simpson was the top female finisher, and Shawn Michael was the top junior finisher. They each earned a $50 bonus.
Kennedy was assisted by his 'little brother' Brant Roberts in the direction of the tournament.
The SE Open 9-Ball Tour will be at The Corner Pocket in Kenner, LA next weekend for another $1000 added event.
