Scotty Townsend came out on top of a field of 44 players at the SE Open 9-Ball Tour event at Jim Bob's Pool Hall in Gulfport, MI this weekend.
Townsend took the hot-seat with a come-from-behind 9-8 win over Jesse Bowman on Sunday. Bowman was up 8-5 but Townsend came back with four outstanding outs to take the set.
Bowman beat Jamie Farrell 9-5 on the one-loss side to set up the rematch with Townsend in the finals.
The rematch between Townsend and Bowman started out different this time, with Townsend taking an early lead but then the fatigue got to both players and they took some easier shots for granted leading to uncharacteristic misses. Townsend got to the hill first and lead 10-9 with Bowman faced with a very tough table to run in order to get to hill-hill. Bowman came with some great shots to get past the most difficult parts of the rack, but let down on the 6-ball and missed it. Townsend gladly came to the table and cleared the last four balls for the win.
Townsend earned $1030 for first place and Bowman took home $650 for second. Farrell and Jason 'Jaybird' Breland filled out the top four spots. Betina Yurkos was the top finishing female and pocketed $50 in bonus money.
The SE Open 9-Ball Tour will be at the Corner Pocket in Kenner, LA next weekend for their next stop. The SE Open 9-Ball Tour is proudly sponsored by J Pechauer Cues.
