The Pechauer Cues West Coast Tour held their stop this weekend at McQ's Billiards in Spokane Wa where a field of 49 players competed.
The match for the hot-seat came went to Rafael Martinez who dominated Stan Tourangeau 9-2.
Tourangeau took his trip to the left side of the board where he met up with Bryce Avila. Avila was in the unique position of being on the one-loss side without an actual loss as he missed his wake-up call on Sunday morning and was forced to forfeit his match. Avila had been on a tear since that match with wins over Dan Louie and John Horsfall. Avila actually trailed Horsfall 8-5 but got to the table in game 14 and ran out the set 9-8.
Even Avila's game could not keep Tourangeau from a rematch with Martinez in the finals. Martinez again raced to a 9-2 lead in the final set against Tourangeau. Unfortunately for Martinez, the finals are a race to 13. Tourangeau won 9 straight games to take the lead 11-9. Martinez would win the next game to get back to 11-10, but Tourangeau would take the next two games for the 13-10 win.
Tourangeau took home $1200 for first place, while Martinez settled for $900 in second place prize money. Avila and Randy Comanteague filled out the top four spots with Horsfall and local player Tony Waters tieing for 5th.
The Pechauer tour will be at Back/Street Billiards in Boise, ID on April 19th - 20th for their next event.
