The Open 10-Ball Pro Players Championship continues into day two at the Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge, PA. The elite field dwindles as champions are eliminated. “The Iceman” Mika Immonen eliminated Warren Kiamco of the Philippines. Mike Davis was sent to the one-loss by Shaun Wilkie at 11a.m. At hill-hill, Davis ran down and missed the 10 ball in the side. Wilkie pocketed the 10 to enter the final 16 on the winners' side. Davis then dished John Schmidt his second loss, eliminating him from the tournament.
A shocked Earl Strickland was forfeited from his b-side match today when tournament director Frank Del Pizzo deemed his behavior inappropriate. “On a personal level, I feel Earl Strickland is one of the best players that ever lived in this sport,” said Del Pizzo but found him to be “disrespectful and unbecoming.” Strickland was given two warnings for his comments when Del Pizzo excused him from the arena after this third offense.
18-year-old Jesse Engle put up a good fight against “The Hitman” Thorsten Hohmann but was ultimately eliminated. Hohmann will face Connecticut's Jeremy Sossei who earned his way by defeating and eliminating Corey Deuel. Highlight winner-side matches tomorrow feature Alex Pagulayan vs. Rodney Morris, Stevie Moore vs. Wilkie, and Ralf Souquet vs. Dennis Hatch.
