High House Billiards in Cary, NC played host to the first stop on the new Stick Built 8-Ball Tour to Benefit Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. Despite a small turnout the competition was intense. In the end it came down to Jackson Jeffreys, Brian Floyd, Tony Williams, and Johnny Griffin. On the one-loss side Jeffreys met Williams and the two fought hard but Williams took the match 5-3 advancing on and leaving Jeffreys in 4th place.
Griffin dominated in his match against Floyd with a final score of 5-1, sending Floyd to the one-loss side to face Williams. Despite some great shots from Floyd, Williams took every eight ball to win it 5-0. Floyd took third place, some points, cash, and a trophy.
The finals saw Williams and Griffin hammering at each other with a myriad of safeties and great shots. Williams took the first match against the undefeatEd Griffin 5-1. The heat was turned up in the last match as Griffin and Williams went shot for shot to 3-2 in favor of Williams. Williams took the sixth game giving himself a two game lead over Griffin and landing squarely on the hill. Williams refused to give Griffin a chance to close the gap, breaking and running the last rack for a 5-2 final and a first place finish.
In addition to a trophy, cash prize, and 4 victory points for his first place finish, Williams also received a brand new VX2.9 Jump/Break cue from tour sponsor Poison Cues. Cue Sport Promotions thanks everyone for coming out and playing hard, and asks players to sign up now for the February 15, 2009 SBT stop at Brown's Billiards of Raleigh.
