The Pechauer West Coast Tour event this weekend at Midway Bar & Grill in Oregon City, Oregon saw tournament favorites upset by newcomers to the top ranks of the tour.
The winners side was dominated by Tony Balzer out of Salem Oregon. Balzer is a teammate of Tour director Steve Lingelbach and he put on a show in this event only once allowing an opponent to get to hill-hill against him. Balzer took the hot-seat with a convincing 9-3 win over Darin Walding.
Darin earned a tough 9-8 win over Tinsley Johnson on the one-loss side to earn another shot at Balzer in the finals.
Walding had never finished higher than 9th place in a Pechauer Tour event, and second place would have to suffice this time as Balzer scored an equally convincing 13-6 win in the finals.
Balzer earned $750 for first, while Walding took home $500 for second. Johnson and Lingelbach filled out the top four spots.
The Pechauer West Coast Tour will be at Rileys Billiards in Albany, Oregon on June 4th-5th for their next event.
