The 2012-2013 Pure X Cues All American Tour – presented by the American CueSports Alliance (ACS) – showcased its twentieth stop of the Tour year at 2nd Avenue Corner Pocket in Cedar Rapids, IA, Saturday, February 16. The $500-added 9-ball handicapped tourney on 7-foot Valley bar boxes drew 23 players.
On the A-side, the hot seat match was set up by Scott Kitto (Cedar Rapids IA) [rated an “8” on a regional handicapping system used] outpointing Cody Mason [5] (Tiffin, IA), while Tim Kindl [5] (Cedar Rapids, IA) took down Craig Rice [7] (Cedar Rapids, IA). In the A-side finals, the spot proved too much for Kitto, and Kindl emerged as the only undefeated player to that point.
On the B-side, Mike Peiffer [6] (Washington, IA) and Cody Mason [5] tied for 5th place to the cues of Craig Rice [7] and Scott Hargens [7] (Cedar Rapids, IA) respectively. Hargens [7] then eliminated Craig Rice [7] at 4th place, earning Scott a B-side finals spot. There he dispatched Scott Kitto [8] and took a place in the tourney finals. In the match for the title, Tim Kindl [5] again took advantage of the spot to defeat Scott Hargens [7] for the crown.
By virtue of Tim Kindl also being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 9-Ball singles entry into the 2013 Pure X ACS Nationals at the Tropicana Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.
