Over a hundred people attended a professional billiard exhibition match held at Hawaiian Brian's between Canada's Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan and Hawaii's own “Rocket” Rodney Morris.
The two highly regarded touring professionals squared off in a 9-ball “race to 21” match with $400.00 going to the loser and the winner taking home $600.00 and bragging rights. The crowd was treated to a well-played match and witnessed some memorable run-outs and spectacular shot-making.
The “Rocket” jumped out to a 6 to 4 lead, but “The Lion” roared back, winning the next game and then running 3 racks to lead 6 to 8. From there, no one could really mount a commanding charge and the match see-sawed back and forth until they were all even at 16 apiece. From there, “The Lion” pounced. Alex ran 3 racks and dominated the rest of the match, winning 21 to 16.
Both Rodney Morris and Alex Pagulayan plan to play in the upcoming UPA Tour Championship to be held at The Bicycle Club in Los Angeles January 6 to 11.
