The Grand will host its first Lone Star event on June 25th-26th, 2011 adding a generous $1,000 to the tournament prize fund. Formally named “The Grand Billiards and Social Club”, it's nestled just off of highway 35, at 4631 Airport Blvd, in Austin, Texas. It was voted 2010's Best in Pool and Billiards by the Austin Chronicle and has just become the newest hot spot for the Lone Star Tour. Billiard fans and Austin natives may recognize it as the former Eric's Billiards circa 1986-2007, now reborn as “The Grand”, a rejuvenated, upscale adult pool room.
This historic room, gaining fame in the late 80's for its famous State Championship originally held at the former Eric's, has catered to the likes of Allison Fisher, Gerda Hofstatter, Helena Thornfeldt, Vivian Villareal, and numerous other WPBA champions.
The Grand offers a laidback, non-smoking atmosphere, hosting numerous APA events, leagues, and weekly open tournaments. They offer a full bar with flat screen televisions, great for watching your favorite sporting event, and an outdoor patio for smokers. Darts, foosball, and video games can also be found along with a friendly bartender or waitress to serve you. This pool room has (2) 7 foot tables, (10) 8 foot tables and (6) 9 foot tables. Tournament tables are all Brunswick brand, dressed in Simonis cloth, perfect for any billiard tournament.
