Team USA has defended their crown at the annual "Border Battle' between Canada and the US.
The day started with the US team leading by the score of 4-2 in the race to 6 team event. Canada got on the scoreboard first on day two when the team of Cliff Thorburn and Alex Pagulayan defeated the team of Johnny Archer and Nick Varner 5-4 to bring Team Canada back to within one match point at 4-3.
Team Canada would be unable to get any closer though, as the team of Corey Deuel and Earl Strickland defeated the team of John Horsfall and Alain Martel 5-1 to bring Team USA to the hill at 5-3.
The singles matches were next, and the members of Team Canada knew they would have to win every match for the rest of the event. Alex Pagulayan kept the Canadian hopes alive with a 5-2 victory over 'The Prince of Pool' Corey Deuel. This brought Canada back to within one at 5-4.
Johnny Archer showed no mercy in the final set and he completely dashed the Canadian hopes with his 5-0 whitewash of Alain Martel to give the US a 6-4 victory and their second consecutive Border Battle victory.
Archer, Pagulayan and Martel will know compete in the Molson Cup at LeSkratch Billiards which conducts it televised matches today.
