TAP players, licensees and corporate returned home in mid November, after enjoying another successful National event.
Arrivals to the event started as early as Saturday, Nov. 7th to the Embassy Suites and Charleston Convention Center, in North Charleston, SC. From all across the United States and Canada, the Best of the Best were arriving to compete for the right to say; “We are TAP's 2009 National Champions!!”.
Players registration started on Sunday, Nov. 8th at 9:00 a.m. in the morning. Tables, provided by Ed Hagan/Diamond Sports Marketing, were available to practice on throughout the entire day.
The fun started Sunday evening with an elaborate party which included Steamship Rounds of Beef, Baked Brown Sugar Cured Hams, carved on site by the chefs along with Shrimp and Grits Station, Pasta Station, An Asian Stir Fry Station, Fried Green Tomatoes, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Coconut Shrimp, Vegetable Crudite, Artisinal Cheese, and a Fruit Montage and beverages.
The party along with Gift Boxes provided to each TAP player in attendance was provided by TAP's Owner, CEO and President Loyd Schonter. The players enjoyed and appreciated this kick off to this memorable National Event.
As stated in his welcome letter in the program to the players, Schonter stated
“ Unlike TAP's Rally in the Valley, where teams are built especially for this event, your team has played together for a year, sharing many nights of league play and the ups and downs of weekly competition. You made if through each session and then the division and national playoffs to earn your hard fought place at our Nationals. You are a select group of few. Many teams are sitting at home wishing they were in your shoes. You are the best of the best and our hats are off to all of you. Savor the moment and enjoy your stay at Nationals, because you never know when you will get a second chance.”
Team events for 8 Ball started bright and early on Monday, Nov. 9th and continued through out. 9 Ball team events started Tuesday morning, with Singles for both formats being played each and every evening and mini tournaments through out the night into the early morning hours.
The National Staff to include the National Director, tournaments directors, referees and data entry staff along with the corporate office staff worked very hard and diligently to provide the players with yet another successful, organized and fun event.
Players enjoyed 100% payback in the singles event; open tables during their events, along with great competition of players throughout the USA and Canadian leagues representing each of their TAP territories. Entry of all score sheets for team and singles events, ensures an overall solid handicap based on player performance week to week and at National competitions.
Players also enjoyed the complimentary omelet station breakfast, one hour daily managers social and shuttle to and from the airport and surrounding hotels each day provided by Embassy Suites.
Once again, the Predator Group was an event sponsor providing hand towels from their Predator and Poison lines to all TAP players; Predator Air Jump Cues with Joint Protectors to each player on the National Championship 8 Ball and 9 Ball teams; and various Cues and Cases for the player prize giveaway. Their overwhelming support of our National event has been greatly appreciated, through out the years.
Additional sponsors and advertisers included, Inside Pool, AZ Billiards, Mickey's Cues and Brews, as well as vendors D&D Cue Repair, Stix by Six, Shooters Billiards, and Zeigler's Healing Hands. The Sticky Fingers Mt. Pleasant location provided TAP players with free shuttles to and from their restaurant, along with shirts, gift packs and loads of fun and support to the event.
