Tony "T-Rex" Chohan made his way through a field of 63 players undefeated to win the Pechauer West Coast Tour stop at The Jointed Cue in Sacramento, CA this weekend.
Chohan started the event with wins over Doug Coleman and Tim Kwong, followed up by a 8-4 win over Bobby Hunter. The path through the winners side didn't get any easier as Chohan took on Billy Palmer next. Palmer fell 8-6 to set up a match between Chohan and 18 year old local player Chong Vang. Chohan cruised through Vang 8-2 and then beat Tony Melindez 8-3 to take the hot-seat.
On the one-loss side, Amar Kang was laying waste to opponents after an early loss to Kevin Tomlin on Saturday. Kang closed out Saturday with a 6-4 win over Delbert Wong and then a 6-2 win over Ralph Daloian. On Sunday, the matches on the one-loss side went back to races to eight and Kang went back to sending players to the bleachers. First to fall on Sunday was Chris MacDonald 8-4. Kang went to the hill with Billy Palmer before scoring the 8-7 win. It looked like Kang's run was over when Chong Vang went up 7-5 but Vang was unable to close Amar out and Kang went on to win another 8-7 match.
The back-to-back 8-7 matches must have got Kang's attention as he stepped his game up and crushed Kevin Tomlin 8-1, followed by another 8-1 victory over Tony Melindez in the semi-finals. The extended final match was close, but Chohan came out the winner 13-9 to earn $2000 in prize money. Kang settled for $1200 for second place.
The Pechauer Tour expressed their thanks to Jointed Cue owner Dave Stonier as well as Pokertropolis.com who made this $4000 added event possible.
