The sprawling facility of Kolby's Corner Pocket was the sight for the Arizona Women's Billiard Tour 7th Stop, held on October 30th and 31st! 20 women came out to play for the $850 in prize money. The game was 8-ball on the 7 foot tables and the competition was extraordinary!
The final match was between Susan Mello and Susan Williams. Both ladies were decked out in Halloween costumes and both played exceptionally well all weekend! Susan Mello had earned the hot seat and because this was a true double elimination tournament, Susan Williams would have to bean Susan Mello in two separate matches of a race to 5 each. But that would not even be a factor, as Susan Mello won the first match with ease, beating Susan Williams 5 to 0, making Susan Mello the victor and winning $252 for her first place title! Susan Williams finished in 2nd place and taking home $184. Rounding out the top 8 were: Liz Bernreuter, Meiko Yamanobe, Leanrdra Gaff, Barbara Allen, Sonja Flores and Noel Stem. Great job ladies!
Since Sunday was Halloween, we couldn't leave out a good old fashioned costume contest in addition to the second chance tournament! The costume contest was a hoot and everyone looked adorable! There was 1 angel, three disco fever/feverettes, a court jester, and one lady who just couldn't get out of bed! The winner was Meiko Yamanobe (one of the disco feverettes) who won a Pumpkin Gold Canyon Candle.
6 ladies returned to play in the 2nd chance event, so for a change and some fun, we played in a round robin format! The winner was Edwidge Cavanna who played really well, even with a hurt back! She took home $40. Second place was Marita Incalcaterra who took home $20.
The AWBT would like to give a great big THANK YOU to James and Corey at Kolby's, those two guys were awesome! They even created a menu just for us gals! They took great care of us as well as all of their customers and really made Kolby's a fun hang out! Thanks guys!
