The Second Annual New Jersey State Straight Pool Championship is underway at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ with 31 players.
Last year's runner up, Steve Lipsky, is in attendance along with top names Jose Garcia, Tony Robles, Niels Feijen, Grady Mathews, World Champion Thorsten Hohmann, Dick Lane, Teddy Garrahan and Allen Hopkins. The field also includes one WPBA star, Belinda Campos-Calhoun.
Lipsky will have to make his way through the one-loss side if he hopes to better his finish from last year. He lost 150-113 to Dick Lane in the first round. Players advancing out of the first round include Garcia, Robles, Feijen, Hohmann, Lane, Garrahan and Hopkins. Robles and Feijen will face off against each other at 7:00 pm on Friday.
Brackets are drawn and online. Mark Whiteside is at the event and will be providing us with reports and pictures from the event.
