Brett Stottlemyer came back from a defeat in the hot seat match versus Matt Krah to take both sets of a true double elimination final at the Mezz Pro-Am Tour stop on Sunday, June 13. The event was hosted by Rockaway Billiards, in Rockaway, NJ.
Stottlemyer's advance to the hot seat match and final included wins over Chip Klein 7-1, Jose Burgos 7-3, Mike Miller 7-5 and Adam Kielar 7-4. Krah's list included victories over Michael Wong 7-6, Mark Stewart 7-3 and Shaun Wilkie 7-4. Krah sent Stottlemyer to the semifinals with a commanding 7-3 win that put him in the hot seat.
On the one-loss side, Chip Klein won six straight matches, including a double hill win over Michael Wong, and three 7-4 wins over Caroline Pao, Jay Brotherton, and Jorden Brandes. He defeated Kielar in the quarterfinals 7-2, at which point, Stottlemyer put a stop to his impressive run with a 7-4 win in the semifinals.
Stottlemyer struggled in the opening set of the finals. He and Krah battled to double hill before Stottlemyer prevailed, forcing a second set. Stottlemyer settled in, taking seven of the 11 racks in that second set to capture the first place prize.
