Stop 2 is done and what a shootout it was! Turnout increased for the second stop of the Stick Built Tour to Benefit Habitat for Humanity with players coming from as far as Roanoke Rapids to play for money, points, a trophy and a chance at the $500 Tournament of Champions in April.
Everyone played hard but expectation of the rematch between Johnny Griffin and Tony Williams was particularly high. Recall that Williams came back from the loser side to snatch 1st Place away from Griffin in the finals. Griffin wasn't having any of that this time around. Williams and Griffin did meet again after Williams beat newcomer Mitch Day, and Dale Ding sent Griffin to the loser side. Griffin stayed strong, leaving Williams in 3rd Place and heading back to shoot against the heretofore undefeated Ding. Griffin took both matches for the victory.
Thanks to the greater turnout, Cue Sport Promotions was able to payout more than the guaranteed minimums and add a 4th place payout. CSP extends our gratitude to Brown's Billiards of Raleigh for the use of their facility and we hope to see everyone at New York Billiards in Raleigh for SBT Stop 3!
