Ralf Souquet (GER) wins the Interpool Open 2014. The tournament celebrated it´s 10th anniversary this year. Played over four days between 17-20 april in Gavle, Sweden with 172 participants from 13 nations in the main event. The main event are a handicap tournament with 9-ball race to 11. Players start from 0-8 depending of their level of play.
On his way to his 4th victory of Interpool Open Ralf Souquet (GER) had to fight hard. In the quarterfinal the young russian Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) lost to Ralf Souquet (GER) in a match that went hill hill. In the semi Ralf Souquet (GER) put on a solid perfomance with a 11-8 win over Francisco Bustamente (PHI). The final between Ralf Souquet (GER) and Mika Immonen (FIN) become an epic thriller the audience will remenber for a long time. The players followed each other rack by rack and hill hill was a fact after nearly two hours of play. Mika Immonen (FIN) had to play a push-out after the break. Ralf Souquet (GER) looked at the table for a long period of time before he decided to take the shot. Ralf Souquet (GER) managed to produce a massive shot potting the two-ball and get position on the next ball in turn. After that it was easy picking clearing the table for the win 11-10 and the first prize of $3 800.

During the weekend there where also two more side events played. The Pro-Am which are played in the format of scotch double with a pro and an amature in each team. Winner of this event where Mika Immonen and his partner Kurt Roos (SWE). The other event where a so called Finish shootout, 64 players, one rack of 9-ball, single elimination and the winner takes it all. The organizer himself, Marcus Chamat (SWE) won the event and the first prize of $3 400.
