Ralf Souquet completed an undefeated run to win the 2010 Sarajevo Open on October 8 - 10 at the Coloseum Club in Bosnia.
The first stages of the event were round robin groups of 32 players and these stages went without any major surprises and all of the seeded players advanced into the single elimination second stage of the event.
Souquet went relatively untested early in the final stage with two lopsided wins over Serbia's Djordje Pecelj and Goran Mladenonovic. Hungarian Gabor Solymosi took Souquet to the hill before bowing out in 5th place. Next up for Souquet was a surprisingly one sided 10-4 win over Darren Appleton.
On the top side of the chart, Raj Hundal had a similar path the finals. Back to back 8-1 wins over Antal Gabor and Dejan Sipkovski were followed by a tough 10-8 win over Daryl Peach. While Hundal was eliminating Peach, Croatia's Karlo Dalmatin was scoring a surprising hill-hill win over Karl Boyes. Dalmatin's run would end in the next round as Hundal scored a 10-7 win to send Dalmatin home in 3rd place.
The final set ended with a 10-6 scoreline in Souquest's favor.
The win was worth 4000 Euros for Souquet, while Hundal settled for 2000 Euros.
Plans are already underway for next year's event, which will take place October 14th - 16th.
