The 2023 BEF Junior National Championships are underway and have already crowned a new champion on Day One. Sofia Mast was unstoppable as she cruised undefeated to win the 22 & Under Girls 8-Ball event. After the event, Mast said how the win was “was extra special. I was so excited and happy to win”
Mast dropped a total of three racks in her first four matches and was just as dominating in the finals as she confidently avenged a loss to Savannah Easton in the finals last year. After dropping a match to Marissa Du in the second round, Easton had won five straight matches to get back to the finals, but she has no answer for Mast in the finals. “I try and stay confident throughout my matches.” said Mast. “In the inside, I am just trying to stay calm and not over think things.”
In other action on day one, Joey Tate took the 22 & Under Boys 8-Ball division hot-seat with a 5-4 win over Payne McBride. Tate will face Rylan Yoder in the finals today.
Mast and Easton are both still undefeated in the 22 & Under Girls 14.1 division, that will see play continue today.
Bracket are online for all divisions at compusport.ca and select matches will be streamed for free on the Post Up YouTube page.
