Fans around the UK will be able to come together in city centres to enjoy World Snooker tournaments this season thanks to the BBC's Big Screens.
The Big Screen coverage will start with the williamhill.com UK Championship in York December, with green baize action shown on screens in Leeds, Manchester, Bradford, Derby, Liverpool and Middlesbrough. There will also be coverage of the Masters in January.
A spokesman for World Snooker said: "The Big Screens are a fantastic innovation from the BBC and they will help us to raise awareness of our leading events throughout the UK.
"We have used a Big Screen in Sheffield during the World Championship, in Tudor Square outside the Crucible, for several years and it's great to see fans coming together to watch the action and create their own special atmosphere. We'd love to see this replicated across the UK.
"It's also an excellent way to bring snooker to people who might not have watched the sport before, who might come across a Big Screen in one of the cities taking part. Watching a few frames is an ideal way to relax while taking a break from Christmas shopping!"
Geraldine McCullagh, Editor of the Screens Operational Centre, added: "After a fantastic summer of sport on our screens, it’s great to be delivering more world class sport to city centre audiences this December."
