Sheryl Richmond wins Tour stop # 5 on Sept 18-19 2004 at Pool Paradise in Waterloo, Ontario. The event was sponsored by Jeff Bell Custom Cues and Pool Paradise, with a $500.00 added to the purse.
Pool Paradise is owned by Kenny and Lori Chen. The room has 16 Black Crown 9-foot tables and two Black Crown 12-foot snooker tables. The establishment also has a Pro Billiards shop, carrying most top brands. Cue repair is available on site and a cleaning ball facility. Neat machine!
Sheryl Richmond, a regular CWPT participant, cruised through the A-Side, with wins over Jane Adams (5-2), (add Sheryl's next wins), and Dorothy Brown (5-5). The A-Side final saw Sheryl versus Naomi Williams, with Sheryl claiming the hot-seat with a 5-4 win over Naomi.
At the B-Side quarter-finals, Dorothy Brown played her best game, defeating Star Williams, then she met Sharlene Watkinson, who had just defeated Susan Wipper to advance to the B-Side semi-final. The match went hill-hill and Dorothy wasn't able to see the two ball and which forced her to play safe. Sharlene was on fire and was able to sink the two- ball with confidence and ran the table out which forced Dorothy to settle for 4th place.
Now with one loss, Naomi heads to the B-Side final, and tears through the match with a vengeance. She crunched four running racks and amazing safety shots with a winning score of 8-1, which gives her the opportunity to face Sheryl Richmond in the Finals, and sees Sharlene Watkinson taking a 3rd place finish.
The final match sees Naomi back to play Sheryl, with Naomi needing to win two sets - Naomi was on fire during the first set with a final score of 8-1, with Naomi running two table racks. The second set begins, with each player knowing that a loss here is the difference between 1st and 2nd place. Naomi jumps out to a quick 2-0 lead, and then snaps a 9 on the break, to go up 3-0. Naomi takes the next three racks to put her ahead 6-0 in the match. Needing five racks to Naomi's two, Sheryl concentrated on her game and with steady nerves and taking advantage of opportunities, she wins five consecutive racks to wins Tour Stop #5, with a final score of 5-6.
