Smoky Mountain Tables are made entirely of solid North American hardwoods. The top rails are made from American Hard Rock Maple while every other component of the table is built from American Tulipwood. Tulipwood is very strong and is used in many applications including furniture, joinery, and moldings. Hard Rock Maple is a heavy close grained wood and possesses a uniform texture. With its excellent resistance to abrasion, indentation, and shock it is the perfect choice for the top rail due its ability to withstand the wear and tear that will occur naturally during normal playing conditions.
For ease of installation, the entire frame is pre-constructed at the Tennessee factory to exacting standards to ensure that your new Smoky Mountain Pool Table is square and level before it ever leaves the factory. Topping off the solid hardwood frame is Smoky Mountain Billiard's Power Liner Stabilizing Platform. The Power Liner Stabilizing Platform has been laboratory tested to withstand over 20,000 lbs of weight and creates a smooth level surface without imperfections on which the slate can rest. Not only will you be getting the best woods, the best set up and frame durability, but also each table comes with the finest oversized slate that is diamond honed to create the perfect playing surface. Each 1” thick piece of slate is rechecked at the Smoky Mountain Factory for flatness and is backed with a 3/4” backing board per BCA regulations. Backing the slate allows for quieter play and more effective professional cloth installation, in addition, the backed slate reduces breakage during transport. The pool table rails are delivered to the customer pre-covered in their choice of cloth.
