Jasmin Ouschan |
The 22-year old Austrian Billiard queen Jasmin Ouschan will be entering a new area of billiards history this year. After a superb performance during the EPBF qualification tournament in Paris, she secured her spot for the WPA Men's World Championship in 8-Ball which will take place from 18th to 25th of April in Fujeirah (UAE).
Due to the lack of a Women's World 8-Ball Championship, the WPA regulations allow, according to equal opportunities, the possibility for women to qualify and to compete in this prestigious event. Since the establishment of the World Pool Association (WPA) no woman has ever accomplished qualifying for this Championship.
Ouschan commented on this unbelievable success: ”It is a really great success for me and confirms the opinion of my trainer and myself to take the hard way and meet the challenge to compete also in the men's division. I hope that I can continue playing at that level in Dubai and maybe repeat like the top finishes in the 14.1 World championship which was also a mainly men staffed tournament.”
To achieve that goal it will be a mental and physical challenge for Ouschan because she is also competing in the Women's 9 Ball World Championship in Taiwan at the beginning of April (30.03.-06.04.) followed by the WPBA San Diego Classic (09.04.-13.04.) where she had to defend her runner-up result from last year.
Jasmin and her trainer Michael Neumann have to deal with 3 Events in three weeks including 2 World Championships and a Pro Event on a different continent.
Good luck Jasmin!
