NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel will host the best female billiard players in the world this December when the Women's Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) Tour Championship comes to Western New York.
Between Thursday, December 2, and Saturday, December 4, the top 64 players will cue off during two sessions each day in the Seneca Niagara Events Center. The tournament will culminate on Sunday, December 5 at 1 p.m., when the final four players remaining will compete for the title of WPBA Tour Champion. These final-round matches will be taped by ESPN for future television broadcasts, beginning in January.
The legendary Jeanette Lee, known as “The Black Widow,” is slated to return from maternity leave for the tournament. Other pool-playing greats scheduled to play include: Allison Fisher, the 2009 World Games Gold Medalist; Ga Young Kim, the current U.S. Open Nine-Ball Champion, and; Jasmin Ouschan, the defending winner of the WPBA 2009 Tour Championship. Photo and autograph opportunities will be available throughout the weekend.
The Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel's “Billiard Bash” days in December will commence on Wednesday, December 1 with a Pro-Am Charity Event. Details will be forthcoming.
Concurrent with the WPBA Tour Championship will be the Canadian Poolplayers Association (CPA) Ontario Challenge, a team tournament where the area's top amateurs compete for nearly $10,000 in prize money. Tickets prices start at $12 for each individual session, $20 for the finals, and $85 for a package that includes admission to all six sessions and the finals. VIP ticket pricing is also available.
