Jeannie Seaver, known as The Comeback Kid, fought off a comeback by Tracie Hines to win the Ladies Spirit Tour event at Anastasia Billiard Room in St. Augustine, Florida.
Seaver started the day on the winners side with a 7-4 win over Jennifer Nelson, while Tracie Hines was defeating Emily Wilmoth 7-2. This led to Tracie vs Jeannie for the hot-seat.
While Seaver was beating Hines 7-6 for the hot-seat, Wilmoth was eliminating Nelson 7-6 on the one-loss side. With her win over Nelson, Emily Wilmoth won the WPBA Florida Classic qualifier due to Jeannie Seaver's touring pro status and a previous invitation to the event for Hines.
The qualifier win would have to suffice for Wilmoth as Hines scored another identical 7-2 win over Wilmoth to send Wilmoth to the stands in third place.
This set up the final double elimination match between Hines and Seaver with Hines having to beat Seaver twice to win the tournament. Hines took an early 3-0 lead in the first set, but was forced to watch Seaver win three games to tie the match at 3-3. The players split the next two games for a 4-4 score, but Hines won the next three games for the 7-4 win.
Hines started the second set with a 1-0 lead and had a chance for a 2-0 lead after Seaver missed a 9-ball in game two. Hines missed the tough 9-ball shot she had though, and Seaver tied the match at 1-1. From there, Seaver won three straight games to take a 4-1 lead. Hines fought back and got to within one game at 5-4 down, but Seaver won the final two games for the 7-4 win.
Seaver collected $650 for first place, while Hines settled for $450. Wilmoth and Nelson filled out the top four spots.
The Ladies Spirit Tour will be at Cunningham's Pool & Darts in Vero Beach, FL on September 25th-26th for their next event.
