A field of 26 players braved the impending hurricane to play in an abbreviated one day Ladies Spirit Tour event at Wallys Billiards in Lakeland, FL.
Jeannie Seaver dominated the field on the way to the quarterfinals where she defeated Tracie Hines 7-3 to capture the hot-seat.
Hines went to the one loss side where Crystal McCormack was having a great event. McCormack already had 2 hill-hill wins on the day and has just finished defeating Debbie Schjodt to guarantee a third place finish as well as the 2006 WPBA players choice qualifier. The pressure of the win over Schjodt and the qualifier win appeared to drain McCormack as she was not able to bring her "A game" to the match with Hines and Hines freewheeled to a 7-0 win.
The rematch between Seaver and Hines started out as a carbon copy of the first match with Seaver racing out to a quick 8-3 lead. Then it was time for Seaver to get a taste of her own medicine as Hines came back to win four straight games against Seaver (who used to be known as The Comeback Kid after all of her come from behind wins). In the end, the deficit proved to be too much for Hines to overcome as Seaver pulled the match out 9-7 for first place.
Seaver earned $700 for first, while Hines settled for $525. McCormack and Schjodt filled out the top four spots.
With the second place finish, Hines cemented her position as the top player on the Ladies Spirit Tour points list. Wendy Jans finished second on the points list and Seaver finished third.
The Ladies Spirit Tour will be holding their season finale, a $7500 added open event, at Capone's Billiards Lounge in Spring Hill, FL on December 3rd-4th.
