The Pyramid Club in Addison Illinois hosted the first stop of the 2005 Viking 9-Ball Cue Tour on April 30th and May 1st. Thirty four players made up the double elimination tournament field in the newly built upscale Pyramid Club.
After the first day of play, the field was whittled down to the top eight players. Larry Schwartz, Noy Vichiensaen, Neal Jacobs, and Tom Stathis Jr. occupied the no loss side, while Chris Gentile, Chris Conrad, Dave Ciancanelli, and Willie Munson faced imminent elimination.
On the winner's side, Schwartz defeated Stathis in a hill-hill match and Veichiensaen defeated Jacobs. Schwartz then faced Vichiensaen for the winner's side final. Schwartz played with confidence and easily beat Vichiensaen 7 to 1. Gentile, whose style is fast and care free plowed through the one-loss side to meet Schwartz in the title match. Schwartz persevered in a very tight match to win the tournament undefeated.
Schwartz commented that 'After a long layoff from playing tournaments, it felt great being back and winning this event.'
