John Schmidt is more known for his 9-ball game than his one-pocket game; but that may not be the case anymore.
Schmidt ran to the finals of the Derby City Classic One Pocket Division without a loss and faced off against One Pocket heavyweight Scott Frost in the finals.
Frost had dropped a match already, so he knew he would have to beat Schmidt twice to win the event.
Things got off to a good start for Frost as he defeated Schmidt 8-0 in the first game of the race to three match.
Frost's celebration for the first game would be his only celebration in this match as Schmidt came back to win the next three games with identical 8-0 scores in each game.
It was Schmidt's first One Pocket title and yet another Derby City Classic with Frost missing out on the golden ring in his best discipline.
Meanwhile, the 9-ball division is finishing up round 6 and will finish with just under 50 players. Round 7 will be played later tonight (Friday).
The straight pool event is down to four players with Schmidt facing Danny Harriman and Darren Appleton taking on Thorsten Hohmann tonight and the winners playing in the finals on Saturday.
